White Birch (Herndon Radcliff, Mariano Aguerre, Matias
Magrini and Remy Muller) charged out to a 5-3 halftime lead over Airstream
(Peter Orthwein, Kris Kampsen, Guille Aguero and Mariano Gonzalez) and held on
to register an 8-7 win in Fall Cup play Wednesday afternoon at the Greenwich
Polo Club.

Airstream got on the scoreboard first on a goal from the field
from Mariano Gonzalez, 1-0.  Matias
Magrini responded with a goal for White Birch, 1-1.  Gonzalez added another goal for Airstream,
2-1, but Herndon Radcliff tied it up with his first goal of the day to end the
chukker all even at 2-2.

Gonzalez gave Airstream a 3-2 lead with the opening goal of
the second period, but from that point on, White Birch controlled the
chukker.  Consecutive goals from Mariano
Aguerre, Muller and Magrini closed out the period with White Birch on top of a
5-3 score.

Defense was the byword of the third chukker as backhander
and ride-offs kept both sides from scoring.
At the end of the first half White Birch maintained their two goal lead,
5-3.

Aguerre and Guille Aguero exchanged single goals to open the
second half of play.  The period ended
with White Birch maintaining their two goals advantage, 6-4.

Magrini scored the first goal of the fifth chukker, 7-4.  Gonzalez answered back with a goal for
Airstream, 7-5.  Aguerre scored the final
goal of the chukker for a three goal, 8-5 White Birch lead.

Airstream battled their way back into the game in the final
chukker.  Two goals from Aguero brought
Airstream to within a goal of the lead, 8-7, but time ran out, and White Birch
celebrated the victory.

Gonzalez led all scoring with four goals.  Aguero added three goals in a losing effort.  Aguerre and Magrini scored three goals apiece
for White Birch.  Radcliff and Muller
each added a goal in the win.
