Day four of the Sotogrande 43rd Land Rover International Polo Tournament Gold Cup matches started with Medium Goal matches and a successful Equus (winners of the Silver Cup) against Wild Orchid on PH I, winning their second league game of the Gold Cup 14-8. At 12.30 Silex followed suit with their second Gold Cup match win, 9-6 to Scapa-John Smith, whilst on PH I at 8-14, El Rosario had their second loss and Woodchester their first win. In the later games Sapphire-Dr. A, also had a second loss, this time against Leones 13-7, whilst Silver Cup Finalists Seven Sevens beat Sainte Mesme 8-7 to go to two games up. On another pitch it was a second successful game for Mahra-Esperanza and a second loss for Los Dragones, 14-11. There was another win in the final Medium Goal game of the day for FCT (whose patron, Roger Carlsson yesterday did battle in team Royal Salute against Valiente in the High Goal) this time it was FCT 8 v 7 Lebeau.
As the later Medium Goal games took place, the High Goal began with the Pieres brothers alongside James Packer and Thomas Brodie meeting Luis Domecq, Pascual Sainz de Vicuna, Augustin Garcia Grossi and Martin Iturraspe – Dos Lunas Banco Espirito Santo on LPII. With a scoreboard reading 6 all in the third, by the end of the match it was Ellerston at 16-11 who were the first team to have a second win in the Gold Cup. In the following 18:30 games, it was a 13-11 win for RH (now with one win and one loss) over Los Monjitas (their second loss) and although 10 goals was not enough for La Indiana to beat Ellerston earlier in the week, it secured them their first Gold Cup game win 9-10 over Halcyon Gallery (who had previously beaten Los Monjitas in their first Gold Cup game).
