Salahi Captains US Polo Team to victory against India-Pak Team in America’s Polo Cup

Final Score 5-4, USA Wins!

On a sunny & beautiful day on the Washington DC National Mall in West Potomac Park, The United States Polo Team, Captained by Tareq Salahi, competed against the India-Pak Polo Team for the America’s Polo Cup coveted International trophy.  Hundreds of Spectators and onlookers alike attended the annual opening ceremonies, and were treated to a thrilling match along with fine cuisine by PF Changs China Bistro, Tandoori Nights, Kellari Taverna, and Popeyes Louisiana Chicken.  It was announced during the opening ceremonies that the 2011 challenger will be played against Costa Rica.  This honor was accepted personally on stage by a top official from Costa Rica.   This will mark the first time in history that Costa Rica will be playing against the United States.

Key note speeches were delivered Mr. & Mrs. Khan, Founders of Luxury Dossier, Mr. Sohail the Captain of the India Polo team, who is the President of the New Delhi Polo Club in India, Mr. Puneet Ahluwalia, India business leader in DC and Mr. Manan Kathora Singh, Bollywood Film producer.

A presentation was also made by Mr. & Mrs. Salahi who donated one of their Polo Ponys “Mosby” to Musaddiq Ishaq,  a 15 year old male, who is an aspiring young polo enthusiast.  Part of the America’s Polo Cup mission is to support youth programs or individuals through the donation of horses to various programs it may support and encourage outdoor activities including horsebackriding & polo.

The Polo Match was intense, and India was ahead in Chukker 2 & 3 always by one goal.  The game tied in the final chukker, and then Team USA, scored the final goal in the last 30 seconds of the game to keep the America’s Polo Cup in the USA.

Premier Sponsor, Daum Luxury French Art,  presented the  Best America’s Polo Cup Sportsman award to Mr. Doug Barnes of Destination Polo who provided the horses to the visiting polo team.   

Hundreds of guests came wearing either traditional big hats, or the India traditional Sari dress to compete in the worlds first ever best Sari Contest.  The best Sari Contest were awarded in the winners circle after the polo matches.  The contest was jointly won in a tie for first place, by Indian beauty queen Nikkitasha Marwaha and Shivani Nath.
