Equestrian at Thai Polo & Equestrian Club

Equestrian at Thai Polo & Equestrian Club

Pattaya, Thailand

Beside Polo, the facilities at the club have been extended to include other equestrian activities. The picturesque course for Cross Country competition at the Thai Polo & Equestrian Club was designed by Australian Wayne Copping, with Col. Fuangvich Aniruth-Deva, the former Asian Game’s gold medalist for the Eventing discipline, providing technical support. The Cross Country course is a unique selling feature of the vunue, with all fences or obstacles being infused with “Thainess” and the beach city feels of Pattaya. And let’s not forget the club’s new facility for Derby Show Jumping, the Tahi Polo & Equestrian Club’s Signature tournament, which the club firstly introduced in October 2008 with the honour of presenting the HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindorn –  Derby Cup.

Endurance, a marathon-like equestrian activity that can be enjoyed and practiced by riders with all ages and skills, is also held here and attracts riders from all over Thailand as well as from neighbouring countries.

Eventing is the complete major discipline for international equestrian competition, which includes Dressage, Cross Country and Show Jumping phase, and is regularly held at the club. The dressage phase is a test of elegance in motion, challenging horse and rider to complete a serie of choreographed movements with precision and flair. Cross country competition, the second phase for the Eventing discipline, require determination, courage and trust between horse and rider, who defy gravity as they leap imposing obstacles over the long and grueling course. Show Jumping, the last phase for Eventing, is the nail biting culmination of the competition, requiring precision jumping against the clock in a stadium atmosphere, where a single mis-step can mean the difference between winning and losing.

Apart from all the equestrian competitions, the club has also succeeded in co-hosting seminars and professional training courses conducted by the Federation Equestrian International (FEI).These aim to promote and develop a better understanding of various equestrian disciplines among riders and professionals, and uplift Thai equestrianism to world-class standards.
