French Open – Semi Finals

TITO RUIZ GUINAZU WAS ON FIRE YESTERDAY, ESPECIALLY AT THE END OF THE GAME WITH IRENITA FAMULA, A MARE FROM THE MC DONOUGH STUD, WHO WAS THE BEST HORSE IN THE FIRST SEMI-FINAL.

Saturday 18 September 2021

One thing is certain, it is a new team that will write its name on the cup of the Open de France Engel & Völkers in Chantilly. It will be a new final between two teams from the west of Paris, Kazak and La Magdeleine, that the spectators of the Polo Club de Chantilly will see battle it out this Sunday from 3pm.

La Magdeleine got the better of Talandracas in the extra chukker thanks to a golden goal from a 60-yard penalty by Tito Ruiz Guiñazu. However, the duo of Jeta Castagnola and Tommy Beresford never gave up, even leading the game from start to finish. But the opposite pair, Tito Ruiz Guiñazu and Facundo Llorente, well supported by Frenchman Lucas Nottin (2 goals), were particularly strong this afternoon.

They will meet the team of Sebastien Aguettant, a particularly efficient captain, author of two goals, with, to support him, the pugnacious Argentinians Jero del Carril and Santiago Irastorza and with the only French professional who will be playing in the final, the talented Patrick Paillol. For Kazak, this qualification was not easy either as they played against the recent winners of the Coupe d’Or de Deauville, Los Dragones, whom they could only beat by one goal.

In the qualifying phase, Kazak beat La Magdeleine 8 – 6… a very poor indication of who will win the 2021 Open de France Engel & Völkers and the battle between the three Argentinians who will play the Abierto in November (Del Carril, Llorente and Guiñazu) promises to be exciting.

In the women’s tournament, Polo Park Zürich inflicted a heavy defeat on Maison Décalé, despite a good resistance from Lia Salvo and her team during the first three chukkers… but then everything fell apart and Polo Park Zürich went on to the final (8-3). To know the other finalist, we will have to wait for a penalty shoot-out between Maison Décalé and DS Automobiles DS Store St Maximin on Saturday morning. An exercise that always puts nerves to the test and from which DS Automobiles DS Store St Maximin emerged victorious and will therefore meet Polo Park Zürich in the final on Sunday at noon.

So, these will be two wonderful finals that you must attend on Sunday from 12:00. This day of finals is always a moment of magic that concludes three weeks a little out of time. Polo is a sport that makes one dream!
