High Goal Festival, Moscow Polo Club

At the beginning of August, The Moscow Polo Club held its 7th annual High Goal Festival at Tseleevo Golf and Polo Club.  The popular week-long festival showcases some of the best polo in Russia and traditionally welcomes guest players from Argentina.

Ignacio Badiola (6) and Joaquin Irizar (2 goals) from Argentina joined the club’s resident Argentine players, the two club professionals, brothers Hernan (4) and Alejandro (5) Taverso and the polo assistant Celestine Rivera (3) for a week of polo at the club.

The highlight of the festival was the A. O. Rodzianko Challenge Cup, in which Moscow Polo Club President Alexis Rodzianko played against his son Misha, the highest handicapped Russian player at +2 and his talented daughter Tasya, who plays off a zero.

The Cup was contested in an extremely close game, with the Tseleevo team scoring a winning goal in the last seconds to win 6-5 over the Moscow Polo Club team.
