Hospice Benefit Match

CELEBRITY POLO PLAYERS TO COMPETE
IN CAPITAL HOSPICE BENEFIT MATCH

FALLS CHURCH, Va. — The third annual Capital Hospice Polo Cup benefit match on Sunday, June 28, at the historic Great Meadow in The Plains, Va., will feature professional celebrity polo players John Walsh, star of television’s “America’s Most Wanted;” Salvatore Ferragamo, whose designer fashion line bears his name; and Ignacio “Nacho” Figueras, a Ralph Lauren model, in a benefit match where the winner will be the community.  Proceeds will go toward construction of the first free-standing hospice facility in Loudoun County, Va., on land donated to the nonprofit Capital Hospice by the Van Metre Companies.

Since its inception, the Capital Hospice Polo Cup has raised over $65,000 for the proposed building, to be located on US 50 and Gum Springs Road.  This year’s Polo Cup is expected to draw the largest crowd so far, according to Capital Hospice and Event Chairs Dee and Beau Van Metre, who expect hundreds, if not thousands, of polo enthusiasts as well as people who have never seen a polo match but are curious and want to support Capital Hospice.

Guests will enjoy mimosas, bloody marys and cocktails provided by Bacardi and a lovely brunch provided by Outback Steakhouse, and will watch two competitive polo matches of four chukkers each, with a mix of professional and amateur players including Tim Gannon, co-founder of Outback Steakhouse. The benefit match will pit the Outback- Booz Allen Hamilton Team against the Black Watch-Van Metre Team.  In addition to the polo match, activities will be available for children.  During half-time, a memorial dove release will occur for attendees to honor a loved one.

General Admission Tickets for the benefit match are $10 each, available through Great Meadow at www.greatmeadow.org. ; Tables for eight under the tent range from $1,000 to $5,000 with sponsorship tables benefiting from the premier location.  For tickets or information, contact Capital Hospice Special Events Director Carol Kennedy at (703) 531-6216 or go online to www.capitalhospiceeventsLive.org/hospicepolocup. ;
