Black Bears retained the Indian Empire Shield by defeating La Golondrina 11-10 in the final on Friday, 21st May, at Coworth Park. La Golondrina fell behind in the first two chukkas, however they came back into the game in the third when they equalised at 6.
However Black Bears returned revitalised in the fourth and despite a superb effort from La Golondrina’s Tomas Garcia del Rio, who scored eight goals during the match, and Juan Ambroggio who scored goal number 10 for their team in the last second of the game, Guy’s team managed to keep the final score at 11-10. A fantastic performance by J.P. Clarkin, although not without the odd hiccup!
In the subsidiary final Silver Spring defeated Emlor 11-8
