Kirtlington Park Polo Club – May Cup (0 – 4 goal)

May Cup (0 – 4 goal)

27th April – 3rd May 2010

Well done Henry Hyde Thomson and The Photons!  A fairly even 1st chukka with a goal from Ashby and one by Marcus Collie resulted in a 1 ½ to 1 score for Charlie Rigby’s Don Carlos, who i have to say look great in their new shirts!

The second chukka was all Don Carlos. A goal from Thom Collie, a penalty goal from David Ashby and a superb goal from Max Rigby gave them a 4 ½ to 1 lead. A penalty for The Photons converted by Ben Eeley ended the chukka.

What a third chukka by Marcus Collie – he was everywhere! A solo goal and a great pass to Will Smyth Osbourne resulted in a goal. Marcus was great in offence and defence, shifting older brother Thom and openly being a nuisance to the opposition. This may have inspired Will Smyth Osbourne he was getting in on the act and the game was getting harder and harder for the 3 goaler David Ashby. Pressure by the young Smyth Osbourne  resulted in a mistake by Ashby in front of his own goal – Ben Eeley rode in and found the uprights for Don Carlos making the score 5 to 4 ½.

Keeping the pressure on The Photons extended their lead with another goal by the ever present Marcus Collie. Frustration was now beginning to show on the Don Carlos team as Will Smyth Osbourne kept pestering Ashby.  Ashby was able to score one more but it was too late and the final score was 6 to 5 ½. A great result and a great game, well done The Photons.
