Paspaley Polo in the City

Polo in the City, Australian style

Paspaley Polo in the City celebrated its fifth national anniversary this year with the biggest and most exciting event series ever. First held in Sydney’s Centennial Park in 2006 as a means of bringing the modern game of polo to the people, Paspaley Polo in the City has grown into a major national sporting series now played in five capital cities, showcasing Australia’s, and international, top professional players. This year saw an all-star line-up of players including Ruki Baillieu, Glen Gilmore, Sam Hopkinson and Nacho Figueras.  Over its five year history, the series has helped demystify and redefine this exciting sport in Australia and has become a regular client entertainment opportunity for a broad array of corporate institutions, as well as a popular annual social event.

To celebrate the five year anniversary of Paspaley Polo in the City, presenting sponsor Paspaley has introduced a glamorous, new fixture to the 2010 event with the launch of the “Paspaley VIP Marquee”, where guests sipped Veuve Clicquot and mingled in luxurious surrounds whilst viewing the action on the field from the very best location.

Polo Enterprises Australia, the team behind the series, also announced a new long term partnership with Veuve Clicquot, a champagne brand with high involvement in the international polo scene.  Together with the series’ key long term partners Paspaley and Audi, Veuve Clicquot’s support will be instrumental in continuing to grow the series over the coming years, and will increase the global profile of Paspaley Polo in the City.

Perhaps the most exciting development this year is the participation of Nacho Figueras at the Melbourne installment of Paspaley Polo in the City.  Nacho is an Argentine polo superstar and an international celebrity, with recent appearances on Oprah and Gossip Girl cementing him as the most high profile and successful polo ambassador the sport has ever seen.  His model good looks have secured him a role as the face of ‘Polo Ralph Lauren’, while his athleticism, horsemanship and skill have placed him among the world’s elite professional polo players.
