Sotogrande – Finals set

DUBAI AND MARQUÉS DE RISCAL ARE THE FINALISTS OF THE HIGH GOAL GLOBANT GOLD CUP
(San Roque, August 24, 2022) A vibrant day of definitions was experienced this Wednesday at the
51st Sotogrande International Polo Tournament, with a Globant Gold Cup that already knows its
finalists from both the High Handicap, as well as the Medium Handicap. Dubai and Marqués de
Riscal will look for the title in the highest category next Saturday, while Ayala and Jolly Roger will
define on Friday in the Medium.

The High Handicap held its semi-finals in the afternoon, with two great matches taking place in Los
Pinos. In the first round, Dubai and Dos Lunas La Hacienda offered a great, entertaining show,
which featured a couple of unexpected twists. Dubai became master of the first half, displaying its
best polo of the season, reaching the long break with a 9-3 lead. But Dos Lunas La Hacienda showed
signs of its great performance and managed to reach a tie the game. And when
it seemed that Dos Lunas La hacienda was going to win, the Dubai  ended up prevailing by 12 to 9.

At the end, on court number 3, Marqués de Riscal and Easy / John Smith met again, just as they did
in the qualifying phase. And, beyond the fact that in one passage of the game the Easy / John
Smith team managed to reach equality, Marqués de Riscal knew how to remain patient when his
rival approached and always found a way to stay ahead on the scoreboard, although out for the
minimum. In this way, the team of the Aznar family, which had its representative in Luis, returns to
the final of the contest that has it as defending champion.

Finally, the Medium Handicap reached its final day of qualifying with several possible scenarios
ahead of Friday’s final. But the victories achieved by Ayala -against Electric Polo-, Nairobi -against
Brunei- and Jolly Roger -over ATL-, resulted in Ayala and Jolly Roger remaining at the top of the
standings, which establishes that the Cup champion Volvo Bronze and the winner of the Terralpa
Silver Cup, respectively, will meet on Friday in search of the crown.

Globant Gold Cup action will continue on Thursday with the Low Handicap semi-finals.
