Ayala opens with a victory the Santa Maria Polo Club High Goal Gold Cup

 

Ayala Polo Team defeated Dubai by 15 goals to 9 on the opening day of the Santa María Polo Club High Goal Gold Cup and began in the best way the most important trophy of the 46th International Polo Tournament. Team made up by Iñigo Zobel, Gregorio Gelosi, Santiago Laborde and Facundo Pieres played a great game, with a good teamwork and a high goal effectiveness.

 

Dubai, the defending champion of the Gold Cup, couldn´t turn over a match, that was adverse from the very beginning. The Santa Maria Polo Club Gold Cup continues tomorrow with Dos Lunas A&G Banca Privada facing La Indiana from 7 pm at Los Pinos field 3.

“It is always good to begin the Gold Cup winning and mucho more against a tough opponent like Dubai. It was a very important game for us, after losing in the semifinals of the Silver Cup we needed to recover and grab confidence again and I think we did it in the best way.

We made some changes in the team and tactics and things worked really well”.

 

Medium Goal Aerolíneas Argentinas Gold Cup 

 

Royal Salute and Bardon had a successful debut in the premiere of the Aerolíneas Argentinas Gold Cup. Bardon defeated Sainte Mesme by 10 goals to 9 in extra chukker while Royal Salute did the same with Twenty 20 by 11- 8. The Gold Cup resumes tomorrow with Equus, winner of the Silver Cup, playing against Marqués de Riscal from 6.30 pm at Los Pinos field 1.

 

Low Handicap Gold Cup Isolas 1892 

 

The fields of Puente de Hierro will recieve tomorrow from 11 am the first matches of the Gold Cup Isolas 1892. Sardañola will face La Clarita from 11 am followed by Ghabilian Guards, finalist of the Silver Cup, against FCT Sotovila.

 

In this 46th edition of the Tournament more than 21 teams are taking part of the competition, with a large number of elite players, including four of the top 10 players in world polo ranking: Facundo Pieres, who will play with Ayala Polo Team; Juan Martín Nero (Lechuza Caracas) and Pablo MacDonough, who will stand up for Brunei and Dubai Polo Teams, and the Uruguayan David Stirling (Lechuza).  

 

Besides polo matches, attendance, that´s free during almost all the season matches, has many leisure activities available: a varied gastronomy, Shopping Village, children’s area, bars, After Polo night parties.
