Rain declares two winners at the Spring Gold Cup final in Costa Smeralda
The Spring Gold Cup Costa Smeralda, which started on 23rd May and was due to finish on 1st June had an unexpected end. After glorious sunshine throughout the tournament, the heavy rain on Sunday forced the organisers of the Italian tournament to decide that the final between Cortina Polo Style and Villa a Sesta could not go ahead as the condition of the field was dangerous and therefore declared both teams as winners of this year’s Spring Gold Cup.
The match for the third and four place between Julius Baer and Operae which was due to take place after the final was also cancelled and instead a penalty shoot out took place, in which Julius Baer defeated Operae 5-3.
