DALLAS: TEXAS
Vinnie Meyer, the founder of Texas Polo 50 years ago, said “I am proud of all
we have accomplished at Texas Polo to serve the authentic polo community.”
He continued, “These people are the players, the actual practitioners of what
some call the Sport of Kings, even though it is mostly about hard work and
sweat and dust and amazing equine athletes. My customers have always
been my friends around the globe, and I am honored by that. Winston
Churchill said that a polo handicap is a passport to the world, and it has been
that for me.”
The buyer is Paul Hobby, a Texas polo player for 45 years. Meyer
commented: “Paul is a very capable businessman who understands this
brand and take it forward. He’s exactly the right buyer, and I intend to help this
transition in every way.”
The business will move its headquarters to Houston later this spring. Hobby
remarked “I am honored and so pleased to be the next custodian of the Texas
Polo brand. Vinnie built it for people who love horses and competition, and it
will retain that quality.”
