The Julius Baer Beach Polo World Cup Sylt 2012 – Day 1

The opening day of the Julius Baer Beach Polo World Cup Sylt saw all six teams competing in two round robin tournaments to decide the order of play for the second day of the competition.

Played under cloudless skies and temperatures in the mid 20’s, the opening match between Lanson and Maus Immobilien was a comfortable 4-2 victory for the famous champagne house, a feat they were to repeat when they defeated Team Julius Baer 3-2 in the second match of the day.

In the final match featuring the teams in Group A, Maus Immoblilien defeated Julius Baer 4-3.

In Group B, König Pilsner took on Schloss Göhrde in the first match and came through as comfortable winners 7-4½, and then in a close second match were defeated by only half a goal, 5-4½, by Audi.

In the sixth and final match of the day, Audi overcame a two-goal handicapped deficit at the start of the game to defeat Schloss Göhrde 7-4.

Now in its fifth year, the Julius Baer Bear Polo World Cup is played on the wide open white sands of Hörnum at the south end of the island of Sylt, which is off the North West coast of Germany.
