TommyGlynn 20-goal rained out again

Continuing rains in Greenwich, CT forced the cancellations of Wednesday and Thursday matches.
“Unfortunately, we will not have a game on eitherWednesday or Thursday due to the rain,†said Greenwich Polo Club manager AlexRoldan. “Since last Friday we had threedifferent storms resulting in nearly six inches of rain,†he added.
Roldan and the players are hoping for a change in theweather that might allow a game or two on Sunday, depending on the fieldconditions.
The Greenwich Polo Club is still in the opening rounds ofplay in the 20-goal 2013 Tommy Glenn Memorial Cup. Four teams are competing including Airstream(Peter Orthwein, Kris Kampsen, Guille Aguero and Mariano Gonzalez), CinqueTerre (Alessandro Bazzoni, Gringo Colombres, Joao Ganon and Brandon Phillips),Heathcote Polo (Steve Lefkowitz, Naco Taverna, Tommy Biddle and Nick Manifold)and the home White Birch polo team (Wesley Bryan, Matias Magrini, MarianoAguerre and Peter Brant).
The Tommy Glynn Memorial Cup got started on Sunday, June2nd with Airstream blasting Heathcote 18-13. The following Thursday, June 6th,White Birch handed Heathcote its second loss, 16-13.
Weather caused the cancellation of the Sunday game, andcontinuing rains washed out Wednesday and Thursday matches as well.
“I’d really like to get our first game behind us,†saidBrazilian 7-goaler Joao Ganon of the Cinque Terre polo team.
“We’re trying to keep the horses fit by riding themindoors,†offered Ganon’s teammate Brandon Phillips, “but it’s not the same.
Phillips had just finished the spring season of play atthe Grand champions Polo Club in Wellington and a short trip to Mexico City toplay in an international match before heading north. “I like our team,†said Phillips, “but we needto get on the field and get these game played.â€
