A great performance by Diablos led to a 14-11 victory over Lo Jack, to win the V International Julio Novillo Astrada Cup, which was held at La Aguada Polo Club, in Open Door on Wednesday November 26, and featured a total of eight teams up to 20 goals.
LoJack had a stronger start, as they took an early 5-1 advantage in the second Chukker. Slowly, Diablos began to close the gap, led by great plays by Marcos di Paola and Jose Donoso, until they had tied the scores by half- time. Diablos then kept the pressure on in the second hald before an excellent final two chukkers sealed Diablo’s victory.
Marcos Di Paola was voted the finals MVP and the best playing pony award went to Jose Donoso’s Samira. Jorge Diniz Junquiera’s Ytacua Polaina was awarded the prize for the best playing pony by an Argentine breeder. Hurlingham’s Ivan Weiss got the Skeeter Johnston Fair Play Award.
