England Test Match in Beaufort

ENGLAND TAKE ON AUSTRALIA IN BEAUFORT

INTERNATIONAL TEST MATCH

The Beaufort Polo Club has announced that England will take on Australia in the first of this summer’s International Polo Test matches on Saturday 20th June. England will be looking to continue their winning streak, after a hat trick of victories last season including a win over Australia who will once again be captained by Glen Gilmore.

England captain and Beaufort Polo Club member Luke Tomlinson is relishing the match and keen to make it back to back wins over one of England’s oldest enemies.

“You only have to look at the last few results against Australia to see how closely contested these games are. Its going to be a tough first match for the team, especially as they will be looking for revenge after our win in 2008.”

The Test match forms the centre piece of the Beaufort Country Fair (20th and 21st June) with the gates opening at 10.30am and the Test Match starting at 15.30. Tickets cost just £20 per car (including all occupants) on Saturday with a reserved grandstand seat costing £20.

As well as exciting polo at the fair, spectators will be treated to a number of new top class attractions including ‘The Sheep Show’ with their dancing sheep, the National Birds of Prey Centre and the ‘Hound Parade’. Rural skills, heritage and the ways of the country will be plentiful in the attractions, and with over 70 high quality stalls and a Country Market, there really is something for all the family.

After the match, Boujis, London’s coolest boutique club will recreate its stylish South Kensington nightspot in the stunning grounds of the Beaufort Polo Club with a selection of cocktails music for guests dance into the early hours.

On Sunday 21st June, the main feature of the day is a charity polo match, where two local teams will play in aid of the Countryside Foundation for Education. Last year the match helped raise £50,000 for the Countryside Foundation for Education who provide access to outdoor learning opportunities for up to 330,000 school children a year.

Beaufort chairman, Claire Tomlinson, has seen the popularity of this event grow year-on-year:

“Every year our main objective is to provide people with a family day out and we try to incorporate lots of country activities and demonstrations alongside the action packed polo to ensure there is something for everyone”

Tickets on Sunday cost £20 per car, with a grandstand seat costing just £15. For more information or to book tickets, please call the Beaufort Polo Club on 01666 880 510 or visit www.beaufortpoloclub.co.uk to book online
