Enigma downs Richard Mille In Cartier Queen’s Cup

By Herbert Spencer

Jerome Wirth’s Enigma edged Prince Bahar Jefri’s Richard Mille 10-9 in their league match for the Cartier Queen’s Cup at Great Trippetts Farm Thursday, with the lead changing repeatedly and the game only being decided in the last chukka.

With 10-goalers Juan Martin Nero for Enigma and Pablo MacDonough for Richard Mille spearheading the action, the two teams traded goals through the first chukka to a 3-3 tie at the bell.

Enigma held their opponents scoreless in the second period and went ahead 5-3. But it was Enigma that failed to score in the third chukka and the first half ended in a 5-5 tie.

Nero and MacDonough each scored one in the fourth period to keep the game tied up 6-6. Then Enigma took an 8-7 lead in the fifth chukka with two points by Nero to one by MacDonough.

Enigma’s Nero and Fabio Lavinia took their team to 10 in the sixth chukka. Richard Mille’s Tomas Garcia del Rio then scored two in a row before the bell, but it was not enough to save the game.

Nero was Enigma’s high scorer with six points while del Rio scored six for Richard Mille.
